About

I’m Jess, and I write stories inspired by the ancient world.

The Very Ancient Diaries is my on-going series of short stories where I write the fictional diaries of real wanderers, artists, generals, menaces and more from the ancient world.

I also explore the history and research involved in writing the stoires in ‘Behind the Diaries’, and occasionally post other articles about ancient people and places.

I studied my undergraduate degree in Egyptology and Classical Civilisation at Swansea University, UK, and hope to return in the near future to study my MA. My research focuses on Sensory Archaeology, ceramics and ancient music.

When I’m not writing, you can usually find me drawing my favourite fictional characters, playing music, tackling my miles long tbr or painting my nails.

I hope you enjoy exploring the blog. Feel free to stick around here – you can subscribe to the blog or follow along on Insta. I’d love to have you along for the journey 🙂
